There are many reasons to visit Asia. From its rich history to the exotic nature of its cities, it’s one of the most fascinating regions in the world. But what about all those other places that you can only see by traveling there? How about someplace that’s just fun and doesn’t have any special significance for anyone else? Well, we’ve got your back! Here are some of our favorite places in Asia that aren’t necessarily as well-known but still deserve a visit:
Hong Kong
Hong Kong is a great place to visit because of the culture, food and shopping. The city has a lot of different cultures and people there. There are many great restaurants in Hong Kong that you can go to if you want to eat some good food while visiting this city.
Khao Yai National Park, Thailand
Khao Yai National Park is a protected area in Thailand, and it’s considered to be one of the world’s oldest national parks. It was created in 1922 when King Rama VI declared it as such. Today, it’s home to many endangered species like elephants and tigers.
The park is also a popular tourist destination for its beautiful landscapes, which include mountains covered with dense forest or rice paddies that stretch for miles upon miles across flat plains.

Isla Mujeres is a small island off the coast of Cancun. It’s a popular tourist destination with some of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean and it has a small town center where you can eat street food or visit local stores to purchase souvenirs. You can also explore its many sights like:
- An aquarium that features sea creatures from all over the world
- A butterfly garden full of colorful butterflies flying around wildflowers growing in their natural habitat
Angkor Wat, Cambodia
Angkor Wat is a temple complex in Cambodia that was built between the years 1113 and 1150 by the Khmer Empire. The site is often referred to as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and it’s also known as “the city of gods”.
Angkor Wat was originally built as a Hindu temple dedicated to Vishnu but later became Buddhist under Jayavarman VII (1181-1220). However, despite its religious significance, Angkor Wat still features many Hindu and Buddhist elements within its design including:
- A central tower called Phnom Bakheng which contains three tiers with sculptures depicting scenes from Hindu mythology;
- A series of chedi (stupas) topped with garudas or nagas;
- Two ponds filled with lotus flowers that represent naga stupeka (naga being an element in Buddhism);
- And finally two lingams inside what were believed to be sanctuaries dedicated to Shiva but are now known as lingam shrines instead due to their nature being changed over time due to conversion into Buddhist temples during different periods throughout history
Hoi An, Vietnam
Hoi An is a small town in Vietnam that’s known for its beautiful architecture and culture. The town has many ancient temples and artisan shops, which makes it a popular tourist destination. Hoi An was also named one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites, which means it has been recognized as having great importance to the world’s history and culture.
Saigon and Hue, Vietnam
If you’re heading to Vietnam, consider making a stop in Hue. It’s a beautiful city with some of the best scenery in all of Southeast Asia and an interesting history. You’ll see beautiful temples, but you can also explore its markets and see how people live there.
The food is delicious—the fried rice at Pho Restaurant (Hue) is one of my favorites—and the people are friendly!

Udaipur is one of the most popular tourist destinations in India, and for good reason. The city is located on the banks of Lake Pichola, which means it’s surrounded by water. It’s also known for its beautiful palaces, temples and lakes.
The city itself has many historic buildings that date back to more than 1,000 years ago when it was founded by Maharaja Udai Singh II (the king who founded Jaipur). The city has been through quite a few wars over time—most notably against British forces during World War II—but it still manages to maintain its charm as an attractive place to visit with your family or friends!
Mandalay Peninsula, Myanmar

In fact, it was here that King Mindon founded his kingdom in 1855 after completing his military campaign against Burma’s neighboring kingdoms.
Mandalay has an extensive history that dates back to ancient times when it was known as Pegu or Ava (and later changed to Mandalay). This region is home to many ancient temples including Shwesandaw Pagoda which sits on top of Shwedagon Pagoda; two mountains famous for their religious significance throughout Southeast Asia today!

The town was once part of the kingdom of Lan Xang (which means “land of a million elephants”). Today, it’s considered to be one of Laos’ two main cities with about 300,000 residents—a much smaller population than Vientiane or Savannakhet but still bustling with activity that includes markets selling everything from clothes to fruits and vegetables.
There are many temples throughout Luang Prabang where tourists can see Buddhist artworks as well as learn more about Buddhism through lectures given by monks who live at these locations.
